Alright so I’m back from being a world traveler, and frankly both happy and sad. Happy because other than missing Game 1, this has been a disaster of a series. Sad because, well we’re losing right now in the series and frankly we should be playing much better than where we are. I don’t think I need to dive into some of the issues of the last few games; it’s just going to make me upset and I don’t want to be.
So let’s look forward to tonight game in the Garden. The Rangers need to come out with a vengeance tonight. I hate saying this because it is so cliche but this is an absolute must win game. We lose tonight, it’s just a tough chance for us to go into Centre Bell on Thursday and think we’re going to win. The boys in Blue need to come out fast and set the pace of the game early. If they don’t they’ll get lost in the game and it will be over before it even starts. Also, if we could find a way to get the puck into the zone, that’d be great too. In terms of physicality it has been there but we need to get the puck more to the net. Duh.
A couple of positives to look at for tonight. One, Hank has been just about the only thing that has looked solid this whole series. He’s right in top form right now and I am expecting more of the same from him tonight. From the numbers he’s posting right around a .940 save percentage, and has also faced about 30 more shots than Carey Price. So basically he’s faced a full games worth of shots and is keeping them in the mix.
We also have a little line scrambling being done by AV which I think at this point is a smart decision. Buchnevich will be back in the lineup and playing with Kreider and Zibanejad. I loved this line early in the season so I’m hoping some of that magic will come into play tonight. From the looks of it Steps, Nash, and Vessey will be paired up as well as Hayes, Miller, and Zucc. Honestly, I love these lines and think we should finally get some good production tonight. Top to bottom with these pairings we should be much better than what the Canadiens have to show us so I really feel good about this.
Klein’s out, which is nice. That’s all I have to say here.
Long story short. This is the most important game of the season and we absolutely need a W tonight. I think the fans will come out strong and am expecting some good results. Let’s put the past behind us, and just worry about this one game tonight.
